This is my story and I’m stickin’ to it!

I cannot get a job, and pretty much haven’t had one since leaving my IT career in 1988. I now consider myself officially and terminally unemployable – because I think I’m just not good at being an employee.

But since I’m not afraid of work, I have spent my life creating my own jobs:

  • I started out by creating a MARKETING and SPECIAL EVENTS business
  • Then I created a BUSINESS MAGAZINE
  • From that, I created WORKSHOPS and SEMINARS
  • And moved from there to creating an ENTERTAINMENT MAGAZINE
  • My next creative venture resulted in a FREELANCE WRITING business
  • And a career as an EDITOR and JOURNALIST
  • That led me to create a PRINT and WEB PUBLISHING company

What’s the Point?

It wasn’t until I was in my 40s (and don’t try to guess how old I am now!) that he realized that what I had been creating all this time were simply ways to communicate.

In addition to my magazine, workshop, writing, publishing and marketing excursions – I have done television, radio and countless speaking engagements. Any chance I got to talk was alright with me. (still is if you ask most people who know me.) I’ve always felt like I had something to say. In fact I’m passionate about saying something that is worth listening to – and that will affect change.

Today, as a marketing coach for speakers and founder of Pro Speakers Bureau, I have created for myself what I call “The Greatest Job in the World.” I spend most of the average day coaching, representing – and most importantly CREATING – with speakers and trainers who are also passionate about sharing their individual messages that just might change the world. I work with a collection of powerful messengers who – with their ability to communicate – affect dynamic changes in people, businesses, minds, families, communities and hearts.

Every time one of the speakers I work with has the opportunity to share their message, it’s like having my own personal passion fulfilled – over and over. By working with this brilliant collection of orators, I’ve also finally discovered what the real message is that’s been eating at me all this time. It’s simply “Win-Win.”

CampusTalkBlog

The speakers I just mentioned are helping me host this blog. They are passionate about making a difference in the lives of their audiences. In this case… the Campus Activities crowd!  We specialize in providing extra-curricular subject-matter-experts to colleges and universities that increase student involvement and student retention. We plan to share plenty of expertise in this blog and to increase our understanding of the needs, challenges and opportunities in the area of student involvement and student retention.

Besides, I have an opinion on just about everything. I might as well voice some of it here!

PEACE.
Rick
