This is some of the ‘best of the best’ that I’ve learned over 20+ years working with student organizations. My top 3, 5, 7, or 10 lists cover everything from skyrocketing student involvement, to holding great meetings and everything else that involves student leadership. Ask your student leadership questions here!
I’ll be engaging you as STUDENT LEADERS and ADVISORS to sharing your best leadership practices and experiences with your peers. Together we’ll accumulate the Best Practices that we’ve observed IN ACTION over the years as well as to gather new ones from members of our network.
In March I attended the APCA conference in Atlanta and informally interview some advisors and student leaders to start engaging them in this network – to start gathering BEST PRACTICES. Some of them have already joined me on this quest and you’ll see them commenting here soon.
So… here’s the top 5 best practices I got out of the APCA conversations…
- Create an “Emerging Leaders” program.
- Create curriculum for the school such as “Visionary Leadership,” “Leadership 101,” or “Ethical Leadership.”
- Conduct a training session for officers of all campus organizations.
- Promote campus leadership resources through advisors, departments, and staff
- Partner with other similar types of institutions or those of geographical proximity, to conduct leadership programming.
Jump in whenever you’re ready and tell us about some of your successes, failures, experiences, solutions and whatever else comes to mind. We’ll have some ready feedback for you!
Thanks,
Dave GONZO Kelly
