The Heart is Wiser Than the Head

Researchers at the Institute of HeartMath in San Jose California have discovered that your emotional state affects your brain’s ability to learn. Your cognitive ability or higher order thinking centers can’t be activated if you are dealing with drama. Negative and stressful relationships shut you down and bring you down too. Is it worth it? Hardly.

As a facilitator of the HeartMath Resilient Educator program, I see the immediate benefit this program offers. Try this on for size: the next time you are confronted with energy that makes you feel anthing less than incredible, just stop and check in with your heart. You could even close your eyes, take in a few deep breaths and ask your heart, “What would be the best thing for me to do in this situation?” The heart always knows the right answer and will keep you safe from harm. Even science has discoverd that the head is the seat of knowledge, but the heart is the seat of all wisdom. And remember, a change of heart, changes everything.
