I’ve got a gig this afternoon at Lincoln College of Technology in Melrose Park, Illinois, outside of Chicago. It is a two hour staff development workshop on LIGMO. the coordinator shared many of the challenges that the staff face, as well as the students and they are looking to be uplifted and presented with some solutions. As a trainer with lots of gems and precious tools for learning, I always say, “Only Two Hours!?” One thing for sure, they brought me all the way up from Atlanta and whatever I have to say in that short time frame, better be good.
As I listened, I thought, “Wow, yet another group of human beings that are members of the cult of overwhelm.” What I realize is how stressed people are and when I share Simply Ridiculous and LIGMO it is with the hope of helping them to confront the issues in a light hearted manner and let the drama go. Our programming has us so caught up that we can’t see the light of day.
Take a moment and imagine your mind as a VCR. It’s just recording and playing back all events that have happened and are happening to you. All the time. That’s not a bad thing when we understand how it all works and take responsibility for our programming. Yet, most of us don’t understand how our minds work and are inundated with lots of negative programming – and have been since we popped out of the womb and hit the scene. Do you REALLY know how your mind works and how to work it? Yeah sure. Most of us take the linear, logical, black and white, academic approach. So, how’s it working for you – and the rest of humanity? We’re steeped in our own ridiculousness and the mind doesn’t know how to get out!. The stress is at all time highs and even epidemic proportions. That my friends is Simply Ridiculous!
That’s where the heart comes in. One thing I know for sure, the Head got us in this mess in the first place and it takes a power and intelligence greater than our limited human intellect to get free. It is my prayer that I can facilitate a conversation and interactive program with the faculty that will open their hearts up to new way of seeing things. I’ve heard it said that it’s not about seeing new landscapes, but seeing with new eyes.
Lincoln College of Technology, I come with fresh eyes. Percieving you with love and appreciation for all that you do and all that you are dealing with inside of the human experience. I bring science and wisdom from my teachers and I invite you to recieve it with open hearts and new eyes. I plan to make the most of my two hours and I hope you do too!
Smiles!
Millicent!
